Molasses Flood Readies To Launch

Our mates here at The Molasses Flood have been burning the midnight oil of late and their efforts are about to pay off. Later this week the game-making startup will go public with their first product, The Flame in the Flood. The game has been available via Steam Early Access for PC & Mac users since September. Xbox One will release it on Wednesday.

The Molasses Flood joined us here at Geek Offices a couple of years ago and soon after raised $250,000 on Kickstarter to build “A rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten post-societal America.”

PC Powerplay calls the Flame in the Flood “a haunting, challenging and even a little disturbing world in which to wander.”

Molasses Flood co-founder Forrest Dowling recently spoke at length to Engadget about the Flame in the Flood, game making, and a decision he and his coworkers made to leave bigger, more established shops to strike out on their own.

“It seemed like it was the right time to do this, to take a risk,” he said. “None of us are so old that we couldn’t take a risk, but we also had been doing it long enough that it felt worthwhile to take it on.”
